Canon 50mm f/1.4 EF USM
This the best 50 mm lens that Canon has made to date, both optically and mechanically. It is compact, solid, and with a good feel to it. Optical performance (resolution, contrast and bokeh) is excellent. Its weakest point is CA and flare when it is used wide open.
The focus motor in this lens is micro-motor USM. However, it still lets you use manual focus override when set to auto-focus. Auto-focus is fast, consistent and accurate, but not as quick and silent as ring-motor USM lenses. The front of the lens does not rotate, but does extend when focusing.
