DSLR Lens finder (beta)

Search for a suitable lens

This page is to help find a suitable lens for your DSLR and µ-Four-Thirds (MFT) body. You fill in the form below to indicate what type of DSLR or SLR system you have, and the sensor size on your camera (if applicable). You shold then select the type of field of view (FOV) you are interested in. The first selector let you what type of lens you are interested in, from super tele to super wide angle. The second selector let you put additional restrictions on the search.

See the notes section for more about using the selectors.

Disclaimer: The data in the lens finder are reported in good faith. However, you should never base a purchase decision on data from the DPanswers lens finder alone. Always verify the data from the fact finder against other sources to make sure it is accurate before committing to buy. And please send us a message if you spot any errors or omissions while browsning the lens data.

Notes

  1. Camera system: For EF-mount bodies from Kodak, select Canon. For F-mount bodies from Kodak and Fuji, select Nikon. For K-mount bodies from Samsung, select Pentax. For α-mount bodies from Minolta, select Sony. For bodies with the Four-Thirds or µ-Four-Thirds mount from Olympus, Panasonic and Leica, select Four-Thirds or µ-Four-Thirds.
  2. Sensor or film size: For film, Canon 1-series and 5-series, Nikon D700 and D3-series, Sony α850 and α900, select FX/135. For Four-Thirds cameras, including µ-Four-Thirds (e.g. Olympus, Panasonic and Leica Digilux 3), select Four-thirds. For all other digital system cameras from Canon, Nikon, Samsung, Sigma and Sony, select DX/APS-C.
  3. To find lenses that will auto-focus on Nikon's entry level DSLRs without an in-body focus motor (e.g. D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100 and D5000), tick the restriction “lenses with built-in focus motor”. This restriction is ignored if the camera system selected is not Nikon.
  4. Restrictions are cumulative (boolean operation AND). Restricting search to “zooms” and “wide-angle” will give you a list of wide angle zooms.
  5. While every auto-focus lens I know of can also be used for manual focus, restricting the search to “manual focus” will exclude auto-focus lenses from the result.
  6. If you indicate two mutually exclusive restrictions (e.g. “manual focus” and “auto-focus” ), one of the restrictions will be ignored.
