Minolta was a Japanese worldwide manufacturer of cameras, camera accessories, photocopiers, fax machines, and laser printers established in 1928 on Osaka. In 2003, the company merged with Konica to form Konica-Minolta. In 2005, Konica-Minolta sold parts of its photographic division to Sony and left the business of selling cameras and photographic accessories. The Sony line of DSLRs are a direct continuation of the Konica-Minolta line and uses the Konica-Minolta lens mount (A-mount) and proprietary hot-shoe.
