National was a brand used by Panasonic Corporation between 1927 and 2003 for its photographic accessories and home appliances. It was the first well-known brand of Japanese electronics, and was orginally picked to indicate that the products were to be used all over Japan.
In May 2003, the company officially phased out the National brand name and replaced it with Panasonic in all markets except Japan. In 2008, the National brand was also phased out in Japan.
