Batteries for flash

To make sure I had enough power for my flash I bought expensive Energizer Ultra Lithium batteries for $8. They gave me about 40 shots before dying (i.e 20 cents per shot). Is this normal? Or is my flash broken?

One response:

Do not use lithium batteries in modern flash units

Lithium batteries are fine to power digital cameras. Unfortunately, they do not work very well with modern flash units. I recommend that you use Low Self-Discharge NiMH batteries instead.

For more about picking the right battery for your flash (or camera), please see our Battery Guide for Photographers.
