Amazing self portrait

According to this story in the Animal Planet blog, a black macaque monkey took her own photographs after grabbing a camera left on the ground.

While visiting a national park in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, wildlife photographer David Slater inadvertently left his camera unattended. The camera soon attracted the attention of a female from a local group of black macaque monkeys. Fascinated by her reflection in the lens, she pressed the shutter button and captured the amazing self-portrait shown above.

Surprisingly, she did not “chimp” after taking the photo, proving, I guess, that macaques are more intelligent than chimps (and humans).
